2016 ELECTION INFORMATION

The City of Loretto administers city, state and federal elections for its residents on even years. The odd year school district elections are administered by each school district. The City is available to answer your questions about polling places, voter registration, absentee voting, and other election information.

Loretto residents vote at City Hall, located at 279 North Medina Street, in the Council Chambers.  If you voted in the last election and haven't moved or changed your name, you should be pre-registered to vote in the 2016 elections. 

The best source of election information for voters is found on the Minnesota Secretary of State's website.  Here you will find information about how to REGISTER TO VOTE, FINDING YOUR POLLING PLACE or CAUCUS LOCATION, ELECTION DATES, and ABSENTEE VOTING.  There is a wealth of information and it is a very user-friendly website.

Precinct Caucuses

 

Primary Election

  • Election Day is Tuesday, August 9.  There is only one race on Loretto's Primary Election ballot:  Supreme Court Associate Justice 6.
  • Absentee ballots are available starting Friday, June 24. The online Absentee Ballot Application can be found on the OSS website, or you may absentee vote at City Hall. See link below to the paper Absentee Ballot Application.  If you wish to use the agent delivery method, you must fill out the Absentee Ballot Application and the Request for Agent Delivery form (see below) and have your agent bring those forms to City Hall.  More information about agent delivery can be found on the OSS website.
  • Pre-registration deadline is Tuesday, July 19 (you can also register on Election Day).

 

General Election

  • Election Day is Tuesday, November 8.
  • Absentee ballots are available starting Friday, September 23. The online Absentee Ballot application can be found on the OSS website, or you may absentee vote at City Hall. See link below to the paper Absentee Ballot Application. If you wish to use the agent delivery method, you must fill out the Absentee Ballot Application and the Request for Agent Delivery form (see below) and have your agent bring those forms to City Hall.  More information about agent delivery can be found on the OSS website.
  • Pre-registration deadline is Tuesday, October 18 (you can also register on Election Day).
