A Place to Call Home

In 2024, Hennepin County will be making improvements to County Road 19 between Main Street in Maple Plain and HWY 55. In cooperation with the county, Loretto will be replacing water mains as well as improving sidewalk access near Railway Street East around the railroad crossing. In addition to this work there will be a complete rehabilitation of the railroad crossing planned by the railroad in 2024 which will include a crossing closure. More details will be provided when they are available.

Local access to Loretto businesses will be maintained throughout construction.

April 15th: road construction will begin south of CSAH 11 toward Maple Plain

May 8th NOTE NEW DATE: railroad crossing in Loretto will be closed for the start of county work and crossing reconstruction. No through traffic will be possible for the duration of the project - likely to be completed end of July, weather permitting.

May 8th - June 6th: only the railroad crossing will be closed. From the north, access to Chippewa Road, Lorenz Street, Crestview Drive, St. Peter Street, Loretto Street, and Railway Street from CR 19 will be maintained. From the south, access to Elsen Street will be maintained.

June 7th: road and watermain construction through Loretto is anticipated to start and last about 8 weeks (weather permitting.) During this period, there will be no through traffic from Lorenz Street to Elsen Street.

Starting June 7th:

  • access to Loretto's business district on the west side of CR 19 will be by Lorenz Street.
  • access to the Church of Sts Peter and Paul and businesses on the east side of CR 19 will be by Chippewa Road to Sunnyridge Lane/Hillview Lane/Loretto Street.
