The City of Loretto is accepting applications from those interested in becoming an Election Judge (see application at the bottom of this page.) This is a paid position and is a great way for civic-minded people to get involved in the election process and serve your community.

How would I be qualified to be an Election Judge?
If you are eligible to vote in Minnesota, are able to read, write and speak English, and are willing to serve, you are qualified to be an Election Judge!
What training will I receive?
Loretto's Election Judges must complete a minimum two-hour training before each election cycle begins. In-person training will take place on Tuesday, February 20th, 2024. There will be experienced Election Judges and some who will be serving for the first time. Remote/at home training is also an option, but in-person training is recommended.
What is the time commitment?
Backup Election Judges are needed for the Primary Election on August 13th and the General Election on November 5th, and must complete the two-hour training as mentioned above. Alternative training dates may be scheduled or remote training may be utilized if the February training date is not an option. On election days, judges serve either the morning shift (6:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.) or the afternoon/evening shift (1:30 till about 9:00 p.m.)
What if something comes up when I'm serving at the polls and I don't know what to do?
Part of the Election Judge training is learning how to find out what to do in unusual situations, but there are always experienced Election Judges working along-side new judges to help in any situation.
